Natl colored tabby cotton/linen (6.5”x5.5”) containing embroidered square (4.5”x4.5”). Embroidered contains geometric repeated pattern (3x4) in red heavy cotton accented with navy heavy cotton and heavy cream and green wool; mounted w/ T 69 and T 70; good condition: wool embroidery is frail Sample size is 7" x 6"; two repeats; fiber is cotton or flax, and wool; yarns are spun, single and 2-ply; fabric is of plain weave with contemporary name of crash; color applied through use of yarn dye; design is applied through embroidery stitches (some solid) and surface stitches (darning, patterned) is cream linen with red and blue embroidery; is a geometric pattern and was probably embroidered by a peasant for use as clothing;
