Natural ecru colored linen seamed along all edges (8.5”x11.5”) Decorated with Deruta embroidery (upper left triangle) and yellow, heavy thread stitchery (Holbein stitch or double running stitch) Deruta embroidery = done by pulling the threads of the cloth together to form an open mesh background; the work derives its name from the Umbrian hill town of Deruta, where it is supposed to have been popular in the middle ages
