Dress (2 pc)

A women’s working suit. The striped wool skirt has faded with age. Worn with the skirt is a black waist-length wool jacket with a fishtail back, and matching striped wool on the lapels. It is double-breasted with pressed tin sculpted buttons. The Leg O’Mutton sleeves taper to a fitted cuff of the same striped fabric. Fair condition: structurally sound, but small moth eaten holes in the skirt. Blouse insert and lace jabot were added for an exhibition.

Black at this time was not a very stable color, and often fume faded with exposure to light. This is the new uniform of the working/professional woman.
