2 piece dress

Iridescent two-piece bustle gown with reproduction sleeves and collar in pale blue iridescent silk taffeta. The base gown is a blue and brown stripe weighted silk taffeta. Skirt with bustle has bows outlining bustle. Bodice lined with black and has a fishtail back to fit over bustle. Iridescent weaves have been around since the Renaissance but they have a strong allure in the latter third of the century. They have the crisp body needed for the bustle, but not great weight, and the iridescent plays wonderfully through the elaborate drapes. Note the pockets around the bustle.
