Embroidery


Handwoven linen 36” x 40” with embroidered floral designs in mauve, green, and yellow; suzani embroidery; large scale designs; 36" x 40"; central seam denotes use as something else prior to this; fair condition: several holes have been patched from behind, are many other slits in linen; colors still good.

The suzani is both decorative and functional. Often they are created when a daughter is born as part of her dowry. Women work together and several suzanis may be presented to a groom on the girl’s wedding day.
