One of Mrs. Auerbach’s favorite activities was going to the opera. Every Monday in season Mrs. Auerbach’s chauffer drove her to New York City to the Metropolitan Opera and after, that to dinner with her sister Fannie and Fan’s husband Les Samuels. Fannie and Les were among the major donors for Lincoln Center giving over $1,000,000. Mrs. Auerbach maintained an apartment at 17 West 54th Street over looking the garden of the Museum of Modern Art. If there wasn’t an opera to see, she went to listen to the symphony instead. Music was always a very important part of her life. Tuesday morning she would return to Hartford and G. Fox and the work week that ran Tues through Saturday.
