Brown & blue embroidery (geometric & floral pattern)on nalt colored linen/flax (?) plain weave ground; portion of a Spanish table cover; size: 5" x 9.5"; unmounted with 0-1 repeat fiber: flax yarn: spun, 2-ply, and spun single fabric: plain weave with contemporary name of homespun color application: with fiber or yarn dyes design: structural due to yarn type and arrangement; applied designs include embroidery stitches (some solid), and surface filling stitches (darning, patterned, most probably surface darning because of the reverse side being opposite) this fabric was a portion of a table cover that was embroidered in a stylized leaf design; it was an embroidery executed by the hand of a peasant;
