Dress / Gown

Deep green shadow striped taffeta dress with dropped shoulder, bishop sleeves and half-inch band collar. Garment has box pleats in front and cartridge pleating in back with godet inserts around the hem. Black velvet ribbon details and buttons. Circumference: 120 inches. Diameter: 38.2 inches

With the invention of coal tar dyes in the mid nineteenth century, there was a passion for new vibrant colors mainly in the green and purple palettes. This handsome shadow weave taffeta maintains the width of the skirt without weighing too much. The godets along the hemline add additional structure to keep the skirt stiffened.
