Dress
Cream cotton gauze full length dress with a self slub pinstripe. Long sleeves with cuff that may have gone to the elbow leaving softer drape in upper sleeve. CF 3” wide placket closure from high “V” neckline to crotch level of cream cotton with faded gold chalk stripe. Matching fabric on sleeve cuffs and middy style collar with pointed back and 10” hem insert. Odd extension on waistline back blouse. Straight skirt has plain front and 8” box pleat CB with knife pleats to the side seams. Worn by a tall woman at least 5’9” or 5’10”.
Women after WWI embraced the styles of the nurses on the battlefront and this overall apron is an example of that. Washable coverall aprons are worn on top of dresses that cannot be washed.
